Pink Diamond was not holding a shapeshift for 5000+ years, she got poofed and reformed in the Rose Quartz shape. She’s the right size for it, it wouldn’t have taken much effort.

SO I have a theory that PD was able to reform into a shorter gem because Rose is wider than PD so she’s just morphing her body but not Actually growing or shrinking

Meanwhile, Amethyst used to have shorter hair but adopted Greg’s long hairstyle, and kept it with every reforming. PD/Rose could’ve done that but on a much bigger scale, taking a different form and sticking with it for thousands of years.
