“Mirroring” is a big thing with cats. It’s why they will lay in similar positions several feet apart, or will come and try to do things when you do them. It’s a sign that they love you and want to show.
This cat wants to be close to its owner, and also wants to do what its owner is doing, to be involved in some way.
Giving them their own thing to use is a really great way to redirect them and allow them to mirror the behavior in a non-disruptive way that frustrates neither party.
Now if I could just do this with my knitting somehow.
Genius!
My cat follows me to the bathroom and poops next to me. She also lays on my chest when I lay down to go to sleep and sleeps with me. And when I’m on the couch watching tv she’s never far. Cats are adorable and clingy and I love them.

you mean, skin?
What an absolutely terrifying addition to my post. Thank you.
A friend of mine who worked leather had this leather conditioner that he used for sunburn that he swore worked fantastically. My face must have displayed my disbelief. He just shrugged and said: ‘skin is just leather waiting to happen’.
