Can you imagine being that bird? You see a big falling dot off in the distance, so you go to investigate. And it’s a human. Just, like, hanging out, in the middle of the sky. Plumbing toward earth at terminal velocity.
“Huh, that’s weird” you think to yourself.
You land on them. They seem nonplussed by their predicament.
But you’re a busy bird, you’ve got places to be. So you just fly off. Good luck, crazy human. Hope you make it.
The bird just so casually is like hey there. I’ll just perch here. How’s it going? You like it up here? Me too. Later, see you on the ground.
saying sorry when you have nothing to be sorry for really is disempowering. i learned that reflex as an adult man, because i was intimidating and didn’t want to be. the more i did it, the worse i felt. it didn’t stop me being intimidating, either, it just made me intimidating and sorry. trying to make yourself smaller by apologizing all the time is really hard on you and you gotta unlearn it.
this video’s advice is so good. say thank you instead. turn it outward. instead of effacing yourself, raise up others.
also the animation is really good and natural, and i want to know who did it.
I didn’t realize how much I apologize since seeing this video. People say I have a very ‘melancholy’ face, not that I’m trying to imitate My Immortal despite my wicked goth exterior, so saying sorry was a way to try and make me more cute and polite.
I dunno if people view me as cute and polite, but I feel like shit most of the time.
Reblogging this again because of extra commentary.
u lot: PODCASTS are the cool thing! heres some literally everyone is talking about so ur not left out!
me, who cant stay focused on anything without visuals: i cant hear. who the fuck is merle taako
if you need help focusing on a podcast I can help! I have the same issue. A few things you can do:
– only listen while driving, cooking, gardening, folding laundry, or doing something around the house with your hands (knitting works, too!). Personally I need more focus for these things, but finding the right activity for your listening can make it its own special practice in your day. I used to listen only while sitting on the subway, and it made it a special time just for me.
– find a video game or phone game that doesn’t require a lot of reading or focus. Think Animal Crossing or Candy Crush or something. I became a Candy Crush expert because I binged all of Night Vale, and now I have a Diner Dash addiction because of my TAZ binge. My friends swear by listening while playing the Sims.
– many podcasts nowadays have transcripts, either made by fans or by the creators. If the podcast you want to listen to doesn’t have it readily available on their website, contact them. They want to hear from you. My friends with audio processing issues find it helpful to read along as they listen.
